Should I talk to the insurance company?

The problem with talking to an insurance adjuster about an accident before you consult with an attorney is that the adjuster will probably record your statement while asking questions that could lead to answers that will help the insurance company, not you. The adjuster will sound friendly, but he is not your friend. His job is to pay as little as possible for each claim.

Remember, the insurance company is in business to make money. An insurance adjuster will call you up immediately after the accident and probably tell you that you don’t need a lawyer. The easiest way for insurance companies to make money is to collect premiums and pay out as little as possible.
